High temperature concerns? Gulf Coast Seal is pleased to bring you a Parker's latest technical bulletin on a new NBR (acrylonitrile-butadiene) seal
compound.
NB194-90 is a peroxide-cured nitrile specifically formulated for low compression set (see the values at 350F) and superior extrusion resistance.
With 90 durometer nitrile being the work-horse of the Energy, Oil & Gas industry, this compound offers superior performance for those difficult high-pressure /
high-temperature applications.

For decades, Parker has been providing leading edge elastomer technology to the energy, oil and gas industry. As a value added service, Parker is
now offering EOG elastomers tested and certified to the NORSOK M-710 standard.
NORSOK standards are developed by the Norwegian Petroleum Industry to outline and secure adequate safety and cost efficient needs for petroleum
industry developments and operations. NORSOK M-710 calls out the requirements for critical rubber sealing materials in applications such as subsea use,
control systems and valves.
Parker enlisted MERL (Materials Engineering Research Laboratory) Ltd., an independent research laboratory located in the United Kingdom, to
conduct the stringent NORSOK tests on Parker’s various EOG materials. Parker’s materials were found to pass, if not exceed expectations and requirements
set by the NORSOK M-710 standard.

This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Parker O-Ring Handbook. First published in 1957, this handbook has become the
standard reference guide for engineers around the world. It is even used to teach engineering students at Universities.
The handbook is an extensive reference guide containing information such as basic sealing elastomers, typical o-ring applications, o-ring
failure modes and the fundamentals of static and dynamic seal design. It also contains data for fluids, gases and solids, as well as international
sizes and standards.
Whether you’re a novice or expert in seal design, the new edition of the Parker O-Ring Handbook can be used and interpreted by
all.

Parker's EPS Division has published its long awaited Fluid Power Seal Design Guide which is slated to become the definitive
resource guide for seal selection in applications for pneumatic and low, medium and heavy duty hydraulics.
The 424 page guide contains application guidelines plus quick-reference and in-depth descriptions, key material offerings, gland dimensions and
availability of 64 individual sealing device profiles. The detailed Engineering section adeptly covers topics in sealing theory such as:
- Static vs. Dynamic Sealing
- Leakage Control
- Lip vs. Squeeze Seals
- Pressure Effects & Extrusion
- Seal Wear
- Compression Set
- Temperature Effects
Seal designers will appreciate the completeness of technical information contained inside which addresses engineering questions which impact
appropriate seal selection. The materials guide is the most complete in the fluid power industry, covering over 60 material types.
